MBA VS MHA | AFTER MBBS

Earlier, we talked about All career options after mbbs, where we discussed options after mbbs, and we talked about this question, MBA or MHA after MBBS- Which one to choose?

Today, we will be looking and comparing both ones to find out which stands above:-


MBA and MHA meaning


MBA is MANAGEMENT IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION while MHA stands for MASTERS IN HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION.


COURSE DURATIONS


MBA and MHA are both 2 year professional courses. There are 4 semesters, comprising of 6 months each.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA


For MBA, you need to be graduate from any recognized university with minimum 50% percentage, 45% for reserved, same applies for MHA, graduate from any medical recognised university.


ENTRANCE TESTS


Both require to give a written test which is an MCQ paper of 1 hour. This is followed by Group discussion and finally an Interview to assess your skills.

Scope of MBA and MHA


Let's discuss the workfield if MBA and MHA:-

MBA

MBA after is basically wide-oriented degree, where after MBBS, you can choose from some of the following wide choices:-

  • Sales and Operations
  • Business development
  • Licensing
  • Marketing
  • Healthcare services like hospital management
  • Healthcare consultancy
  • Non-Government organisation
  • Pharmaceutical companies


MHA

MHA is limited to a narrower scope as compared to MBA and one can choose to work only in field of Hospital management after doing MHA after MBBS.

On completing MBA after MBBS, you can choose to be medical superintendent in medical hospital, consultant in information technology, healthcare product manager, or even claims manager in insurance company.



So which is better?


It depends upto you, whether you choose for MBA or MHA, but the scope of MBA is rising constantly. With multiple fields open, you obviously have more choices over MHA.

Where MHA will provide you further specialisation in medical field, MBA might just take you off from the medical line.

SO MBA IS BETTER?

Well, practically speaking, its a two way answer. One side, you will be having advantage of MBA with multiple options, on other side, it will take you apart from medical side.

Moreover, since any graduate from any line can do MBA, you will have to face tough competition, whereas in MHA, you know you're already a medico and win over the race over other non-medicos.
